About Okanogan Regional Humane
Working together to help the animals of Okanogan County and surrounding areas
OK-SNIP incorporated as a nonprofit under the name of The Abandoned Cat Team (ACT) in 2002. ACT was an all-volunteer Trap/Neuter/Return organization helping the community cats of the Methow Valley. We realized early on that to solve the overpopulation of community cats and dogs and unwanted tame cats and dogs there had to be a comprehensive spay, neuter, and adoption program in Okanogan County. Our new mission became to significantly reduce the unwanted overpopulation of cats and dogs in Okanogan through an aggressive spay and neuter project.
In 2004, ACT began collaborating with Animal Foster Care Cat Shelter (AFC) in Okanogan. AFC has been a nonprofit all-volunteer organization since 1984. Together, ACT & AFC provide spay and neuter, adoption, and rescue services.
With a new mission, ACT became Okanogan Regional Spay & Neuter Project (OK-SNIP) in 2009.
In September of 2014, OK-SNIP began working with OKANDOGS Adoption Coordinators.
The OK-SNIP office had been located in a temporary modular office at 4 Spring Coulee Road in Okanogan until we officially changed our name in 2020 to Okanogan Regional Humane to better reflect the services we offer to the community and began construction on a brand new clinic that provides the space for us to resume high volume/high-quality spay & neuter procedures.
In 2021, the construction of our new clinic was finalized and we have been hard at work getting the necessary equipment and hiring staff to finally open our doors. With this new clinic, we have an advantage in reducing pet overpopulation and providing our community with reliable access to the services it needs.
We share our space with a large number of adoptable semi-feral cats that love to peek out at you while they hang out on the catio. You can find our current cats available for adoption on Petfinder.com
Okanogan Regional Humane is an IRS 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with the tax ID number 01-0555614
